San Diego County Fair

Enjoy an eclectic mix of competitions, concerts, carnival rides and games, food, and more in a beachside venue. This year, the fair is going retro! There will be celebrations of different decades and their pop culture, including the ‘50s, ‘60s, ‘70s, ‘80s, and 90s. Fair dates are Wednesday-Sunday, June 12-July 7 – right during your 4th of July retreat. Hours are 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. daily. Get tickets and more information on the fair website. Oceanside Independence Day Parade

If you’re stretching a longer holiday this year, make the parade a part of your plans. The parade has been a local tradition since 1892! This year’s theme is “Hometown Heroes” and will be reflected in the many floats, bands, walking groups, cars, and more. The parade steps off on Coast Highway starting at Wisconsin Avenue and ending at Civic Center Drive. The parade runs 10 a.m. – noon on June 29, 2024.

Mission Bay 3rd of July Fireworks

In anticipation of the big event on the 4th, head to the waters near Mission Bay Yacht Club. There will be a fireworks display to light up the night firing off between the club’s shore and Crown Point Bridge. The free event takes place 9-10 p.m. on July 3, 2024.

Annual Big Bay Boom

You’ll be able to see a show from just about anywhere along San Diego Bay. Various spots along the the coastline will be shooting off colorful displays. The event takes place 9-10 p.m. on July 4, 2024. The fireworks shows will start at 9 p.m. The event is free.

SeaWorld San Diego 4th of July Fireworks

Have a whale of a time this 4th of July. The park’s 4th of July celebration lasts all day long. Park hours are 10 a.m. – 11 p.m., and the show starts at 9:30 p.m. It’s an extra special night of their summer-long “Summer Spectacular” event. Both events are included in your regular day pass ticket.

4th of July Celebration in Coronado

Coronado celebrates 4th of July in style. There is pre-parade entertainment starting as early as 7:30 a.m. This year’s 74th annual Independence Day Parade steps off along Orange Avenue from 1st Street to Churchill Place at 10 a.m., followed by an Adrian Empire Demonstration San Diego Star Wars Society Photo-Op. Look skyward for a Navy Leap Frogs Aerial Demonstration at 2 p.m. At 3 p.m. a series of concerts, including a kids’ concert and multiple patriotic concerts. The night wraps up with fireworks at 9 p.m. over Glorietta Bay near Stingray Point.

All the fun can be had on July 4, 2024. Tip: people start setting up for the best spots to view the parade as early as 5 a.m.!

Crown City Classic 4th of July Race

The holiday typically means cookouts full of hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad, and more. The high-calorie meal means you might need some exercise to burn it all off. Start your workout to battle extra calories the morning of July 4th. The race includes a 12K and 5K run. You can register to compete now on the event website. Both races start at 7 a.m. at Coronado Tidelands Park.

Head to LEGOland for an unforgettable 4th of July. Enjoy the fun of the park throughout the day, including an all-American family picnic, games, and brick-building activities. At the end of the day, stick around for a dazzling fireworks display. Park hours are 10 a.m. – 9 p.m., with fireworks at 8:30 p.m. The event is included with your regular admission ticket.

4th of July Run & Ride

Comprised of five different events to choose from, you can exercise and show your patriotism how you see fit. Choose from a 10K or 2 mile run, or suit up for a 22.5-mile gravel bike ride, 35-mile street bike ride, or 12-mile street bike ride. Register for your preferred event on the Run & Ride website. On-site check in starts at 5:50 a.m. for most races. All races are July 4, 2024.
