Museum of Making Music

Stop in for a museum experience like no other. Exhibits celebrate the music products industry’s history stretching back to the beginning of the 20th century and all the way up to today. If you can, schedule your visit when there’s a live music performance at the museum. Whenever you come, you’ll always be able to enjoy hands-on opportunities to pick up and play various instruments.

San Diego Zoo

The zoo was the pioneer of cageless exhibits and is a can’t-miss stop for your San Diego County Spring Break adventure. The zoo plays host to over 4,000 animals, each residing in an authentic habitat – from deserts to rain forests. You can choose to walk the zoo grounds on your own or take the tour bus. It crosses three quarters of the zoo’s area and offers guided information so you can decide what you want to learn more about. For a bird’s eye view, hop on the Skyfari gondola lift.

Spa Day

Rest and relax completely during your Spring Break retreat to San Diego County. While lazing around your rental is an option, you may also want to spoil yourself with a special spa day. The many spas in the area offer services like massages, body wraps or scrubs, facials, manicures, pedicures, and more. Select spas offer a list of options just for men, catering to their specific needs.

Coronado Island

Coronado Island is a day trip from the mainland beach towns of San Diego County that’s not to be missed. Take a guided tour and learn about island history, including the first military flying school: the school where sailors first learned to take off into the wild blue yonder. Make a stop at historic Hotel Del, and make sure to add in some shopping, dining, and other entertainment before heading back to the mainland.

SeaWorld

Sail the seven seas and taste some delicious food along the way. The SeaWorld Seven Seas Food Festival starts March 1 and runs through April 28, fitting in perfectly with your Spring Break itinerary. Take your taste buds on a tour of the world! International food flavors, craft beers and wines, plus plenty of live entertainment await. The special event is available on select dates, so make sure one of them falls during your trip.

Beaches

There’s nothing more iconic of Spring Break on the West Coast than the beach. The water is warming up, but it’s still a bit chilly for some. If you don’t plan on a dip, lay out and sunbathe, change up your exercise routine with a run or walk on the beach, or plant your beach umbrella, spread your towel, and kick back for some much-needed relaxation. Paddle your way through the water on a stand up paddleboard, kayak, or canoe. Up the adrenaline and the speed and take off on a jet ski or fly up to 500 feet above the water on a parasailing adventure!

San Diego Hop On Hop Off Trolley Tour

When most people think of California and trolleys, their mind often jumps straight to San Francisco and its iconic system. On your Spring Break trip to San Diego County, make time for the one here, too. The trolley isn’t just a fun mode of transportation, it’s an easy and affordable way to get around without the headache of busy parking areas with expensive rates at popular attractions. Tour the whole 11-stop route before choosing your favorite stops. Your conductor is a knowledgeable guide who can fill you in on everything there is to see and do along the route. “Hop off” and explore further, then hop back on at a later stop or when the trolley loops around to your location again.

Whale Watching

While people flock to warmer climates in the often still-cold temperatures of Spring Break, so do animals. They’ve been here since about mid-December, but gray whales that called Alaskan waters home during the summer make their way down to Baja, likely during your Spring Break trip. The mammals’ trip is one of the longest taken by any mammal anywhere. From their arrival until about April, you can spot the majestic animals about 20 miles off the coast.
